I’m in Australia, in Melbourne, in a large two-storey, four-bedroom home occupied by three people, three computers, standard kitchen appliances and a beagle…
*types and quantity of fuel used per month in kitchen – We use gas to cook with, but it’s difficult to give you an exact quantity for just the kitchen because we have other gas appliances including hot water and central heating. On average, we use 202Mj per month, and produce 12 kilograms of greenhouse gases.
*amount of electricity used per month or the fuel used for generator/any other source used for light – We’re on electricity here, and on average (based on the last five months) we use 35 kilowatt hours. We also emit an average of 4.5 tonnes of greenhouse gas per month.
*amount of fuel used per month in car, motor cycle, scooter –
60L per week for two cars, and 20L for the third. That’s 606 Litres of fuel per month for this household.
*measures/steps taken for saving fuel and electricity – In our home, we try to help by remembering to turn off lights when leaving a room, turning off televisions that aren’t being watched, putting on jumpers and more blankets before resorting to heating, purchasing energy-efficient appliances. I use public transport services more than I drive (my car is the 20L per week car…)
Hope that helps you!
