TOYOTAs are good. I got a 94 Corolla, 1600cc displacement engine and I get an average of 240 miles per gallon city driving. I get more mileage on highway.

In fact, I just took a road trip to West Coast (I live close to the East Coast) and on my way back, I was almost fully loaded, and I even did like 280 miles on a full tank (10 gallons), at least a couple of times.

As a future car owner, always keep the oil changed (every 3000 miles or 3 months is recommended) and the spark plugs too. I noticed I got more mileage when I changed my plugs. Sure you may incur some expenses but that’s part of being a car owner.

Take care of your car and it will take care of you. Good luck

I’m sure there are others which are economical as well, thought this might give you an option.

The best is a Toyota Echo. They get 44mpg. They stopped making the because the got such good mpg. But u can get a 1999-2002 for that price. My mom has a 01 and it is still going strong.
