Question by david: what are the makes of cars with the best gas mileage?
I’m going to be looking for my first car soon and I was wondering what makes of cars, and models from those makes if you know, have the best gas mileage. Please and thank you.

Toyota and Honda. No hybrids either. The battery costs about $ 5,000 to replace. That would buy you lots of tanks of gas. Wait on a hybrid until they get the cost down on that battery. Before you buy anything, make a call to your insurance agent to find out the insurance costs. There is a huge difference in models depending if they are considered sports cars or not.
If you mean “THE BEST” then it’s going to be turbo diesel. Who makes turbo diesels (non truck) that are fairly cheap nowadays…VW. I wouldn’t buy one but there’s no denying the fact that turbo diesel is the way to go for gas mileage (non hybrid). Better mileage than a low displacement honda or yota engine every time (in the 40′s maybe higher depending on weight)

If you would like the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze also is available with the 1.8 liter, 4 cylinder along with the automatic 6 speed transmission gets an estimated fuel economy of 22mpg city, 35mpg highway and 27mpg combined.
