Q & A: How would a supercharger affect My gas mileage?

Question by : How would a supercharger affect My gas mileage?
I was wondering how it would affect it cause im going to get one on my 78 suburban, i know flooring it will end badly, but what if im just cruising down or just doing relaxed driving? I’m trying to find ways to increase the fuel economy of my suburban, its stock and gets 8-10mpg in the city, so any words of advice on how i can increase this gas mileage? Cause i know there are many ways to do it, i just wanna know the best ways, hopefully to increase power and fuel mileage. Thanks
Also if i did get a supercharger, which aftermarket one will fit the 350 Chevy and be the best option, for both power and efficiency?

A supercharger will always hurt fuel economy because it is using some of the engine’s power to force air into the intake manifold under pressure. A turbocharger is a little more efficient because it uses heat from the exhaust to do the same thing. If you want to keep this vehicle and improve fuel economy your best bet might be finding a diesel engine that would fit.
