    Generally speaking…

    Cars are lighter than trucks. Cars have less wind resistance, at freeway speeds, than trucks.
    Also, Cars are designed to move people around. Trucks are designed to move heavy loads. Newer technology is put into cars first and, if it turns out to be an asset, then they use it in trucks later.

    what vrsicks said plus normally truck engines are more stroked than car engines for more torque application, and the transmissions and rear end are more geared down for loads or just being a workhorse.

    Don’t know what Cars,and trucks you are referring to.. but if they are manufactured with equal specs and same erodinamics and carry weight should do the same speeds and gas mileage don’t you think so. Good luck
